Every year, 70,000 people converge on a squatted Russian Air Force base in the German farmlands outside Berlin. What takes place is a non-profit, volunteer run, 5 day, non-stop anarchist music festival called Fusion Fest. There is no sponsorship, no security, no break in the music, and no cops…and in two years i never saw one fight or one problem. even in the pouring rain (cough cough Woodstock 99). all the food is hand made, the venues are built into the old airplane hangers, in absence of hotels local farmers open their doors to house artists. (though, most people don’t bother going to sleep…myself included). while i love playing music fests, i have very little desire to ever attend them…Fusion Fest is something very different. The best pictures would certainly be taken at night, when the festival reaches full tilt, but both years i have opted to leave my phone in the glove box, grab a Club Mate, and get lost in the amazing. I can not wait to go back. (Taken with Instagram)
let’s go to it!
