Nicolae Ceauşescu ruled for two decades in Romania. A brutal dictator, and relentless nationalist, he built this monstrosity after a trip to North Korea convinced him that Romania needed bigger buildings. Many died in its construction, and it a country suffering with great poverity, it costs a small towns yearly power usage to power it for one day.
